"I don't need a miracle to believe that God is good!" -Ingrid Boesten
Ingrid 12/7/72-5/16/14
The ministry of ACTIVATE THE CURE is dedicated to the memory of Ingrid Boesten Vos, a phenomenal woman of faith who died of colon cancer in 2014 at the age of 41. Ingrid grew up in The Netherlands and lived in Connecticut for 7 years before returning to her husband's hometown of Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. Ingrid was a fearless woman who had a way of speaking right to the heart. She wasn't a candle, but a flame that burned hard and fast. She knew how to fight, and wasn’t afraid of confrontation; but more importantly, she knew how to forgive. Ingrid forgave much and encouraged the community of people around her to do the same.
Ingrid was incredibly creative, beautiful, and full of vision. She was a passionate and gifted artist and musician who enjoyed leading worship. Her greatest gift, however, was her ability to intersect hearts. She loved deeply and intensely. She spoke truth into the lives of the people around her. She had thousands of friends around the world, and those who met her knew instantly when she was in the room. Her unique and special presence was powerful and unforgettable. A conversation with Ingrid didn't stay on the surface for long; it went deep fast and made a lasting impact.
In 2010, Ingrid was diagnosed with colon cancer. She gracefully faced the tide of treatment including multiple surgeries and chemotherapy, but ultimately faced metastatic cancer to the liver, lung and bones. Throughout Ingrid's journey, she had a mysterious peace that followed her. Peace that didn't make sense. A God-given assurance that, no matter what happened, she (and her family) would be o.k.
Ingrid lived an incredibly full life from December 7, 1972 to May 16, 2014. She was honored by friends from all over the world during her live-streamed funeral. Ingrid is survived by her husband, Nico, and her two incredibly beautiful and gifted children, Misha and Sylas.
